Bucks tangle, does tangle, racoons and a fox

I finally went through the September-October game camera pictures. We had a four month long period of drought through the summer, which only broke near the end of October. Therefore there was a lot of activity at the backyard water-feature. These pictures are just a small percentage of the total, because I picked-out what I thought were the best ones.

In this exciting post you will see bucks tangling with bucks, a fox, and several raccoons. Don't miss the very last picture, which is of two does on their rear haunches ready to fight. Enjoy!

Bucks getting their horns ready for fall season

Well, it's officially fall, and the bucks are preparing for the season already. These two young bucks were practicing their dueling skills in the backyard today.

There are other bucks visiting here that are older. Here's a 6-pointer and 8-pointer.

Summer heat

The summer heat has been switched on for a while now. We haven't had a drop of rain since late June. That's pretty normal in these parts. Luckily for the wildlife, we have a water feature that fills up once a day and supplements their water needs. That makes for a lot of deer-cam photos.

Now two fawns are getting in on the action.

This is the first time this season that we've seen this big of a buck in the backyard.

Darn it.... the color went out on the game camera. Probably the heat cooked a circuit or two.

Spring fawns finally show themselves

We got back home from vacation yesterday, and first thing early this morning we saw three fawns. There were two does keeping the fawns in tow. The fawns were running and jumping around, trying out their legs and appearing to have a blast.

One doe shows herself.

Fawn gets a licking and keeps on ticking.

Oh wait, there's two of them.

One fawn is almost hidden behind the tree. You can just barely see a line of spots.
